The blasting commonly known as sandblasting, is anindustrial methodfor cleaning orsurface preparationfor subsequent painting treatment. It consists in applying a jet (sand, grit, grit) driven by high pressure air through hoses and nozzles, against the surface to be treated. The effect of high pressure abrasive releases dirt, rust and /or paint residue on the treated area, generating also an anchor profile for the new paint applied.

Scope:

The scope of work to be performed will depend on the specifications provided in each of the projects to be implemented, taking into account the types of surface, condition and location thereof.

Surface PreparationStandards

Work surface preparation are standardized by several international associations, which generally implemented visual comparison using steel specimens, records or photographs comparators. In general, the standards define the desired end. Among the best known arerules:

NACE: National Association of Corrosion Engineers

SSPC: SteelStructures Painting Council

SIS: Swedish Standards Institution
